Punat

The next stop on our tour of the north islands of Croatia was Punat, on the island of Krk. Punat is a relatively new town by Croatian standards, and since Krk is connected to the mainland by bridge, it’s also an ideal holiday location for campervanners making their way south for the European summer.

The large, flat bay here gives full protection from the elements; the perfect place for any boatie to drop their anchor. In fact, it is also home to one of the largest marinas in Croatia. In the middle of Punat Bay is the small island of Košljun, home to a Franciscan Monastery, where friars still tend to their vegetable patch and keep watch over the valuable artworks, sculptures and priceless books kept here.

We were once again joined by our buddies on s/v Gambler, and threw an early birthday party for Frankie before we would all have to part ways in 5 days’ time. At nearly 4 years old, there is nothing better than sharing some chocolate cake and a movie with your best mates!
