Hvar to Corfu (via Lastovo)

With just a few days left on our Croatian visa it was time to start hot-footing it south! From Hvar we made our way back to one of our favourite anchorages of the summer, Lastovo. This would also be the perfect jumping off point for the weather to carry us all the way down to Greece.

But before checking out of this beautiful country, we spent our last days in Croatia hiking, swimming and paddle boarding. (Oh, and visiting the abandoned submarine pen and military bunkers that make this anchorage so unique!)

With exactly zero days left to spare on our visas, and on First Mate Emily’s 37th birthday, we untied the docklines and cast off into the Adriatic sea once again. Next stop: Corfu!

With only dolphins for company we passed the time playing cards, doing puzzles, reading books and putting the world to rights. After another calm 48 hour passage we made landfall in Greece, the 8th country on our nautical adventure.

What an achievement! We had accomplished our goal to sail the length of the Adriatic in less than ten days (including a stopover in Croatia, lining up weather windows, managing visa and Covid requirements, and picking up new crew!). Venice to Corfu in two big hops, and another 500 nautical miles under the belt.

Now for a few days of rest and relaxation!
