Zut to Molat

After hanging out on a mooring ball at Žut Harbour for a night (and making the most of the attached restaurant, which had both a swimming pool and an aqua park!) it was time to continue our journey north.

We departed at 5am in order to take advantage of some rare southerlies. Actually, the plan was to head out into a storm before it got too strong! But the gamble paid off with some good route and weather planning; we were safely anchored in our chosen bay before midday. And even though it was blowing 40knts in the anchorage all afternoon, it was much better than being out in the straits! On the way up we hit 8.3knts with just a reefed in headsail, and at one point even managed to clock 4knts with no sails or engines at all!

The following day, in the calm after the storm, we took the time to explore the little village of Molat; a charming place with just 100 inhabitants. It was a pleasure to be able to stretch our legs here in the bright sunshine, walking from one side of the island to the other for a coffee, and to stock up on fresh bread and a few homegrown veggies.
