Santorini: Day 3
SUNDAY 5 JUNE 2022
After a lazy morning hanging poolside of our rooftop jacuzzi, we ventured out into the summer heat again to explore more of this beautiful island.
By the afternoon we were in Imerovigli, sipping cocktails and eating ice-cream from the highest point of the caldera. The views down to the black volcanic island in the center of the lagoon below were spectacular. There are certainly not many places in the world you can drink a glass of wine while perched on the rim of a massive active volcano in the middle of the sea!
By dinner we were back in the capital Fira, and come morning it was time to say goodbye to our cave house, return the hire car and take the ferry back to Ios.
We weren’t sure we would get much out of a trip to Santorini - it’s not renowned as a kid-friendly destination. And we weren’t certain about leaving Long Summer tried up on another island in high winds. But everything went to plan, and visiting this world-famous destination was totally worth it. What’s more, the kids absolutely loved it too.
It’s safe to say that this unique volcanic island definitely has a special kind of magic about it.
