Ibiza Town

We were not prepared for the magic of Ibiza Town. It caught us quite off-guard. It seemed far from the party atmosphere normally associated with the island. Perhaps the lacking throng of summer holidaymakers added to the charm. Boutique shops, trendy bars, and hippie heritage lie side-by-side with multimillion-dollar super yachts and high-end designer labels.

And nestled amongst it all is the ancient citadel of Dalt Vila. The UNESCO World Heritage Site was a treat to explore. The cathedral and battlements perched high on the hill draw you up through the steep cobbled streets. But the panoramic views at the top of the Old Town make the hot walk up all worth it. (Consider too that we were also lugging a pram, backpacks and two hot & tired kids!)

All of this was just a short ferry ride from our anchorage around the corner. Talamanca Beach ticked all the boxes for us. Easy to get to shore. A safe little beach for the kids. Playgrounds in abundance. Restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. A couple of chandleries nearby. And so it was that we spent four happy days and nights in this surprising city. Our last major stop before leaving the island and jumping over to Mallorca.
