Boat-Versary

It’s our Boat-versary! One year ago we moved aboard our floating home, and what a year it has been. Certainly not what we had expected! And whilst we’ve sat still in a marina in Morocco for most of our journey so far, we wouldn’t change it for a thing. (Ok, maybe just the Bay of Biscay crossing!)

It feels daunting to try and sum up such a momentous year in our lives; the great escape that we spent years working towards. We’ve already travelled to so many places we’d never even dreamed of. Met so many extraordinary people. Tasted a variety of cuisines and experienced all sorts of cultures. We’ve even survived our first full winter in 8 years - on a boat, no less!

With close to zero sailing experience when we departed, day-by-day our skills and confidence have grown. We now know more than nothing! From the woolly Atlantic coast of western France and northern Spain, and along the Portuguese coastline; through the northern regions of Morocco, and around sunny southern Spain and the Balearics; we’ve travelled nearly 2,000 nautical miles from where we started in La Rochelle.

We’re enjoying the process of getting to grips with this new way of life. Shared experiences, shared spaces, and shared time together. But there is still so much to see and do. So, here’s to the next year and beyond…
