Boat Survey
A final go in the slings… It’s survey time!
Long Summer’s potential new owners arrived in Greece from Australia for a two week overlap with us in order to complete the pointy end of the sales process. The biggest job of which was the marine survey. And we’re not going to lie, it was a long and exhausting process! The buyer’s surveyor Rolf is clearly an expert in his field, and was extremely thorough. He spent two full days poking and prodding in every nook and cranny of Long Summer. Day One saw us haul her out at Cleopatra Marina in Preveza for six hours, before splashing again for more inspections that afternoon. And the morning of Day Two started with yet more examinations before a full sea trial in the afternoon as well.
There was no doubt about it, the process really tested the Captain’s knowledge, maintenance and record keeping! Every operational system - from stem to stern - was put through its paces. However, the mood was convivial and everyone was rather apologetic for the fastidiousness nature of the surveyor, including Rolf himself! Of course, we fully respected and appreciated his professional approach. Thankfully the years of hard work and methodical standards that have we maintained aboard paid off, and Long Summer passed with flying colours - she got the green light for the next step: completion documents!
