Asilah
To the mountains and back to the sea. As our journey around the north of Morocco came to an end, we hit the highway from the hills of Meknes to the coastal town of Asilah. Despite a bit of rain, we managed to get a break in the weather to explore this pretty little town. A popular seaside resort, it is a hub for arts, music and seafood.
We spent the final 24 hours of our trip spoiling ourselves with the last of the delicious treats we have enjoyed all holiday; flat bread slathered in honey, overly-sweet mint tea, almond sugar biscuits, freshly squeezed orange juice, and spiced chickpeas from cart vendors. Now just an hour away from Tangier, Asilah signalled our return to life on the water after a week on the road.
This past week has been a road trip dream: 8 nights, 5 cities, 1,000kms, 18 hours of drive time and countless happy memories! We will forever treasure our time exploring this wonderful part of the world. Thank you, Morocco!
