Aegina Island

Just a short distance from Moni Island, we anchored in the bay of the port at Aegina Island to drop our friends Aaron & Kat off for their ferry back to Athens. It was so lovely having them aboard for the past couple of weeks! And although we only spent 24 hours on this triangular island, we appreciated her lively atmosphere and abundance of pistachio products! As the closest of the Saronic Islands to Athens it is a popular tourist destination, and it was also the temporary capital of the newly founded Greek state during the War of Independence in the early 1800s.

Plus we managed to score a few boxes so that we can start packing up our things too!
