2019: This Is The Year

We have finally arrived at the end of the beginning!

As we look forward to this year, we know it’s going to produce one of the biggest changes to our family unit yet. Not only are we moving to the other side of the world and starting a new business venture, we are flipping our lifestyle completely and moving on to a yacht! Oh, and bringing two toddlers along for the ride… And most importantly, for the first time ever we don’t have any specific idea of what we’ll be doing or even where we’ll be in a few months time!

It feels both nerve wracking and extremely liberating and exciting at the same time. I think it depends on which day you talk to us as to which side of that equation we are sitting. But in general, as things fall into place and we get closer to departure, we feel more confident that we have things locked down despite the high stakes for our family. We have our sailing course booked in a few weeks, we have a planned date to finish employment, we have one-way flights booked out of Singapore, and we have a rough idea of when the boat will be ready.

There will now be more and more occasions that become the “last time we do XYZ”. We will miss so much about Singapore, but we’ve certainly maximised our time here. The change in lifestyle can’t even be compared - our future will be so different in so many ways. We are under no illusion that, amongst the beautiful destinations, food, history and adventure, there will be a ton of hard work. The weather will be our friend and foe; nature will dictate our life more than ever before. There will be plenty of lows, challenges and dark days. But all of this will be embraced with a travelling spirit, great enthusiasm and bags of willpower. We’re so excited to see how it all plays out. And it will be quite enlightening to compare our original thoughts and expectations with the reality once it hits.

2019: this is the year it all happens. Bring it on!
