Krk to Pula

After hiking our way around the north of Krk Island, it was time to make our way out of the northern isles of Croatia. Though we did have to make one last stop back in Cres to outrun a storm, so we took the time to see a little more of the town and walk along the quiet pine forest paths that line the coastline on the opposite side of the bay.

It was then time to head back to mainland Europe and the Istrian peninsula at the north end of the Adriatic. We spent a few nights in the holiday hotspot of Medulin, anchored away from the crowds (though not the noise!). But we were parked right in front of the archaeological site of Vižula, home not just to the remains of luxurious Roman villas, but also three playgrounds and a small beach. Since it was all just a short paddle away, the kids were pretty impressed!

And from here we hopped around to another little bay just shy of Pula, before anchoring in the old town itself. Our goal this summer was always to get this far north (if not further), so there was a great sense of achievement to know that we’ve essentially travelled the full length of the Adriatic.
